Preparing PDF FilesIn most cases Friesens preference is to receive PDF files. Friesens has written a series of guides to help you prepare print ready PDF files. Each of these guides include setup instructions for Acrobat Distiller as well as specific instructions for individual layout applications such as InDesign, QuarkXPress and PageMaker. These instructions are available for Macintosh or Windows. |

Following these guidelines will assist you in providing complete and accurate files that will merge efficiently with our workflow and minimize turn around time. |

Preflight SettingsFriesens preflights all digital files before entering them into our workflow. This allows us to immediately highlight most problem areas and address solutions without delay. We currently use a software package by Markzware called, 'FlightCheck'. If you also use this software, it would be beneficial to use the same preferences as we do. These preferences are found in a file called 'GroundControls' and we have made them available for both the Macintosh and Windows. |

Acrobat Professional includes Preflight software for checking PDF files. The preferences for the Acrobat Preflight tool are called 'Preflight Profiles'. The Preflight Profile is availabe for both Macintosh and Windows. Download this Preflight Profile from the links below. |
